What we offer

When a state imposes licensing rules on an occupation, one cannot legally practice that trade without fulfilling the licensing requirements. When a state imposes certification rules on an occupation, certification serves as proof of the workers having met a set of professional benchmarks. With very few exceptions, every legitimate business needs certain form of license in order to operate.

There tends to be significant variation in licensing requirements for the same jobs across US states. Licensing boards may require a minimum level of training and experience, an application fee, and very likely a passing score on an examination. Sometimes licensing requirements will vary  depending on the type of trade you are in, it’s location, and the relevant safety rules that apply.

Examinations are almost always required in order to earn the license. However, the suggested reference books you are told to study for your state licensing exam often make up well over 2000 pages of complicated information, which can be very painful to read and memorize. We try to condense the information into as few pages as possible for you. In other words, we take the difficult stuff and make it simple for you.

The tips for studying for the various state license exams are basically the same as those for studying for any other standardized test. You get several prep books and study notes and spend a few hours per day looking at them during the weeks before your test, and take practice review tests so you can test your knowledge on the fly. We provide both types of study material to assist you in your exam prep efforts.

The majority of exam candidates have not taken exams for years. Our material may be able to help you out tremendously. If you need study material for a specific state exam, select your state from the list on the right.

Our mission

In the early days of licensure exam study preparation the focus was almost exclusively on cramming. We had a new medium for content that didn’t come with the same restrictions as the more traditional forms. We could present material as we felt was necessary and we could do it quicker. As the exam prep industry grew, so did the approach to gaining readership. In many cases, publishers had their focus shifted away from ultimate understanding of what was being covered, to producing word-for-word exact-match contents significantly motivated by increasing revenue. While it’s definitely easier to produce content by going that route, we don’t believe it’s the only way to conquer an exam. At the same time, we don’t believe readers need the 500-page megatext. As long as there’s a balance, we are happy.

Our mission at ExamREVIEW is to be a part of that balance. Our No-Frills ExamFOCUS study notes are written to be plain simple and straight forward. We don’t paginate material to increase page count, we break them apart across logical boundaries to improve readability. All fancy extra features are removed. We provide study notes that are concise and occupying less pages (so to save trees). And we want you to be up and ready as easy as possible!

We are the original developer of our NO FRILLS Exam prep products. Contents are developed entirely in-house, basing on our own research efforts. We write contents in laymen’s terms to help people become more knowledgeable and qualified! We believe that with the right preparation material and the right study approach, everyone can clear exams ethically.

Our products

At present these are the types of state licensing exams we cover:

  • Auctioneer
  • Builder and Construction Contractor
  • Electrician
  • Fire Alarm

Many of our products include practice review questions. Think of these as challenges presented to you so to assess your comprehension of the subject matters (and for fundamental knowledge establishment). Use them to gauge where you need to focus during your study time, to reinforce learning, to validate successful transference of knowledge and to identify areas of weakness that require remediation. Do not simply guess the answers. The questions are NOT designed to “simulate” actual exam questions.
